Mart Van Hulten
Mart van Hulten studied tax law at Tilburg University (2003-2007), followed by an Advanced LLM in international and European taxation (Tilburg University & KU Leuven, 2007-2008). Since 2009, Mart has been working for Tilburg University. He is Assistant Professor in European and international taxation and in Dutch corporate taxation at the Fiscal Institute of Tilburg University in the Netherlands. He wrote his PhD research on well-being related use of taxation by states, which he defended in 2019. Contributions of Mart to academic literature on European and international taxation can for instance be found in the Journal of international taxation, EC Tax Review, and Intertax. Mart is also tax lawyer (counsel) at Lubbers, Boer & Douma, a tax boutique in the Netherlands with specialized knowledge of (inter)national and EU tax law, mainly focused on tax (second) opinions and tax dispute resolution. Prior to that, Mart worked for 12+ years in the international and European tax practice of PwC.Courses:
Tax Law of the Netherlands
This course deals with the national and international tax system of the Netherlands by examining general characteristics, the taxation of profits, capital income and capital gains, fiscal consolidation, mergers and de-mergers, participation exemption, abuse of the law, partnerships, rulings practice, and tax treaty policy.
