Julienne Stewart Sandgren

Julienne was born in Australia, in 1958. She lived and worked in Sweden for 30 years and has now returned to Australia. She holds an MEd and a PhD in Education and Applied Linguistics. As well as holding several positions at Lund University, Sweden, she has worked actively in the position of an international language proficiency examiner and an assessor for the IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory). Her position at Lund University was somewhat diverse in that she was a Senior Lecturer in Applied Linguistics, the Director of Learning and Teaching, team member for international accreditation process (EQUIS, AACBS, AMBA), a member for the Education Council, chaired the team for internationalisation, intercultural awareness and inclusiveness, and responsible for the ethics and integrity, all within the faculty of Economics and Management. Presently, Julienne is working with linguistic editing for WU / Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law.

Courses:
Copious amounts of reading and research goes into producing an academic text. However, if ideas appear disorganised, there is a risk of losing knowledge, opinions and ideas that are being conveyed to the reader. In order to address academic writing issues, these sessions aim to help you communicate your ideas and knowledge effectively. The sessions address topics such as text structure, unity and coherency, plagiarism, paraphrasing and quoting. During the sessions, informal lectures and workshops will be conducted, providing ample opportunities to discuss writing problems, share tips and give further assist with academic writing. After developing the essential tools for academic writing through the lectures, workshops will be conducted using authentic tax law texts giving the opportunity to identify how these specific texts could be modified to produce a strong, unified and coherent text without plagiarising. These skills will reflect in your own writing giving you the opportunity to produce a strong text for your readers.
